I also wondered how many cases in real life have people tried to hide black serial killers in fear of people thinking they are racist? Finally, I asked myself if the rumors of having hardly any black serial killers in America is true. This episode got me asking a bunch of questions if the killer was characterized as a white male driving a black van rather than a black man driving a black man, would the guy who shot the officer have shot him if he was white? Now I know Criminal Minds is just a television show, but it plays true to reality in showing in every other episode that when killers are characterized as a white male, nobody shoots a white man because they feel suspicious. They ended up holding a press conference and telling people exactly who to look out for, ultimately causing the death of one of their black police officers who was shot by a white man thinking the officer was the murderer. When reporting their analysis to the mayor and police chief, they refused to publish the character analysis to the public as to “not make black people angry”. Never before in the show, and barely in real life, supposedly, has there been a black serial rapist or murderer. The FBI did a behavioral analysis and concluded the killer was a black male. Today I was watching Criminal Minds, and I saw an episode where the FBI was looking for a serial killer targeting young black women.
